Rick Border, Real Estate Broker/Owner

Rick Border was born and raised in the mountains of North Carolina. His career in Real Estate began at the age of 6 when he began assembling for sale signs, mowing yards, and working on houses at his Family Real Estate brokerage Sunburst Realty. He is a graduate of Tuscola High School in Waynesville NC and went on to receive his BSBA in Finance and Real Estate from Appalachian State University in Boone NC. After obtaining his NC Brokers license during college he worked in property management while obtaining his degree. He then joined Cottingham-Chalk and Associates in Charlotte NC as a broker  and quickly became a top producer. During his tenure at Cottingham-Chalk he worked extensively with executives with many Fortune 500 Companies such as General Motors, Bank of America, First Union, Wachovia, Wells Fargo, Transamerica, Smith Barney, Duke Power, US Airways assisting with large corporate relocations and relocation services. He also worked with developers and builders selling new construction and assembling land. During this time he also gained experience selling REO properties for institutions, selling and leasing commercial properties In 1999 he founded the Kingston Group which continued to provide excellent real estate services to many of Charlotte top firms and individuals. Rick also developed an interest in historic houses and is considered an expert in North Carolina's historic neighborhoods having bought and renovated historic houses himself in Charlotte and Western North Carolina. Rick currently is running his family's Real Estate Brokerage Sunburst Realty in Western North Carolina. Sunburst Realty provides Residential and Commercial Brokerage services as ERA Sunburst Realty, Residential and Commercial Property management as Sunburst Realty Rentals, and Vacation Rental Management as Sunburst Vacation Rentals. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family and his daughter McCaul. Rick is an avid cyclist, enjoys fly fishing and hunting, spending time in the great outdoors, playing guitar and singing songs about his feelings.
